Description

Outrage is growing in response to District Attorney Tom Keith’s recent racially-charged comments that African-Americans are “instinctually” prone to crime. (Yes! Weekly published August 26, 2009) These comments came just weeks after the Silk Plant Forest Citizens’ Review Committee found "no credible evidence" that Kalvin Michael Smith was at the scene of Jill Marker’s 1996 beating and concluded it had "no confidence" in the investigation that produced Smith's conviction.

Six years ago clergy gathered on the steps of Wait Chapel to call on District Attorney Tom Keith to drop his defense of the state’s case against Darryl Hunt, who was eventually exonerated of all charges. On Tuesday, September 8th at 3:30 PM a gathering of clergy and concerned leaders will assemble yet again--this time to demand the immediate resignation of Tom Keith and the full and immediate release of the Silk Plant Forest Citizens' Committee Report.
